      <description>A nine&#45;member working group will begin the planning work needed to ultimately transfer control and operation of the Georgia State Archives from the Georgia Secretary of State to the Board of Regents. The transfer requires passage of legislation that Governor Nathan Deal will propose in the 2013 session of the General Assembly.</description>

      <title>State of Georgia Archives To Be Transferred To USG</title>

      <description>The State of Georgia Archives&#8217; budget was cut earlier this fiscal year which called for plans to limit public access to the Archives&#8217; resources.&amp;nbsp; However, Gov. Nathan Deal and Secretary of State Brian Kemp have announced that the state will restore $125,000 to the Secretary of State&#8217;s budget to keep the Georgia State Archives open to Georgians for the remainder of the 2012 budget year.&amp;nbsp; Then on 1 July 2013 the Georgia Archives will be transferred to University System of Georgia, pending approval of the move by the General Assembly.</description>

      <title>USG 3% Reduction Plans</title>

      <description>The Office of Planning and Budget released the Governor’s instructions for the preparation of the Amended Fiscal Year 2013 and Fiscal Year 2014 budgets on July 23rd. These instructions require each Agency, Department and Authority to submit State General Fund Reduction Plans of 3% for both fiscal years. The USG&#8217;s System Office has shared these instructions, as well as guidance for preparing internal reduction plans.&amp;nbsp; Therefore, the Chancellor has asked all Fiscal Affairs staff to take action to reduce all USG Institution budgets by 3%.</description>

      <description>In May and June the Board of Regents approved the mission and name change for 6 Two&#45;years Colleges.&amp;nbsp; Upgrading their programs to that of a “State College” which will allow them to offer limited bachelor’s degree programs.&amp;nbsp; “This reflects the Board’s continuing efforts to meet the state’s economic development needs&#8230;,” said Rob Watts, Chief Operating Officer for the University System of Georgia.</description>

      <description>The University System of Georgia Libraries continue to host several WIMBA informational sessions as they do research for their move to a Next Generation Library System.&amp;nbsp; It is currently being planned to have a session in the Spring on  “OCLC WorldShare Management Services (WMS)”.&amp;nbsp; This WIMBA session will include a discussion and live demonstration of the OCLC WMS.&amp;nbsp; During February 2012 and prior to this WIMBA session OCLC will provide several online sessions concerning OCLC WMS.</description>
