    Voyager 8.2 Upgrade Completed by the GIL Service Site Staffs

    The upgrade to Voyager 8.2 has been completed! The last server was upgraded late on 21 December 2012.  All GIL Libraries can now install the Voyager 8.2 clients on all of their Voyager workstations.

    Bainbridge College Is No More

    Bainbridge College (BC) is no more. During the 13 February meeting of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia a request was approved to officially change the name of Bainbridge College to Bainbridge State College (BSC).

    Planning Begins on Transfer of State Archives to University System

    A nine-member working group will begin the planning work needed to ultimately transfer control and operation of the Georgia State Archives from the Georgia Secretary of State to the Board of Regents. The transfer requires passage of legislation that Governor Nathan Deal will propose in the 2013 session of the General Assembly.

    State of Georgia Archives To Be Transferred To USG

    The State of Georgia Archives’ budget was cut earlier this fiscal year which called for plans to limit public access to the Archives’ resources.  However, Gov. Nathan Deal and Secretary of State Brian Kemp have announced that the state will restore $125,000 to the Secretary of State’s budget to keep the Georgia State Archives open to Georgians for the remainder of the 2012 budget year.  Then on 1 July 2013 the Georgia Archives will be transferred to University System of Georgia, pending approval of the move by the General Assembly.
