« Back to Next Gen UpdatesThe member institutions in the Georgia System will use the Ex Libris cloud-based Alma and Primo solutions to facilitate collaboration
Chicago, IL—July 13, 2015. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the University System of Georgia—with its 31 member institutions—has selected the cloud-based Ex Libris Alma® library management service and Primo® discovery and delivery solution to create a new shared library system.
Using Alma collaborative networks for acquisitions, cataloging, resource sharing, and analytics, the University System of Georgia will be able to streamline its processes across the entire network and support new consortium-wide initiatives, with the goal of enhancing library and patron services.
The implementation will include the integration of Alma with an offsite storage facility shared by Emory University and the Georgia Institute of Technology as part of their EmTech project. The integration will enable patrons of both schools to use the shared storage facility through simplified processes provided by the Alma and Primo solutions.
Alma and Primo will provide a closer integration of services for the member institutions, as well as enhance services for member institutions’ students, faculty, and staff to meet their needs in today’s changing environment.
"We are delighted to extend our long-term partnership with the University System of Georgia. Having collaborated with Georgia for many years on Voyager, we greatly value this large system’s vote of confidence in Alma and the Ex Libris strategy of unifying library management,” commented Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America. “The Alma community continues to grow rapidly, and the addition of 31 member institutions will provide an influx of new ideas that will push the development of our solutions to greater heights."

For more information about Ex Libris Group, see our website, and join us on FacebookGood afternoon all,
Just wanted to let everyone know that we have signed an agreement with Ex Libris for ALMA for the University System of Georgia (all USG institutions, GA Piedmont Technical College, and the Archives). Georgia Tech will begin implementation immediately. The rest of the institutions will begin a planning process during FY 16 with implementation to start and be completed during FY17.
We are very fortunate to have central support for this effort!!
We will have a webinar in July (date TBD) to provide background about our process and to talk about our next steps going forward, as well as to provide information about opportunities to learn more about ALMA and how to keep up with what is happening with the project.
This provides a major opportunity for the USG libraries to move to another level of collaboration in support of enhancing services to students.
Stay tuned!!!
