All GIL Institutions have submitted Alma and Primo Implementation forms


This past week all institutions submitted their Alma and Primo Implementation forms as an initial step in the GIL migration to Alma and Primo in May 2017. These forms will be of great aid while preparing a more detailed project plan. Thank you to all the institutions for the effort and time taken!

Next Generation Library System Project Director Hired


GIL has hired Barry Robinson as our Next Generation Library System Project Director effective October 1. Barry was previously the program manager for the USG’s learning management program, Georgia View (Brightspace D2L). Barry has an MBA from UGA. His office will be at the UGA Libraries, along with the other GIL Applications and Technical Support Staff.

Alma Demonstrations for USG Library Staff

Ex Libris will present 4 online demonstrations of Alma for USG Library staff in mid-October. Ex Libris Solutions Architects Katy Aronoff and Jessie Ransom will present these demonstrations. The dates, times (EDT), and topics of these sessions are listed below.

Tuesday, October 13th 9:30-11am: Alma Overview
Wednesday, October 14th 9:30-11am: Acquisitions, Serials, ERM
Wednesday, October 14th 1:30-3pm: Resource Management
Thursday, October 15th 2:30-4pm: Fulfillment and Resource Sharing

The meeting invitations for WebEx access information for each of these 4 sessions were in the email sent by William Clayton to various USG library listservs on 9/28 (do not be confused by the times listed in the invitations which were created in Mountain Daylight Time – 2 hours earlier than EDT).

There will be some time for questions at the end of each session. If you are unable to attend a particular session, Ex Libris will plan to record these sessions and provide us with access to those recordings.
